Human Machine Interface applications can be easily developed with Microsoft Visual Studio or Microsoft Expression Blend with no programming required.
If you do not currently own a copy of Visual Studio you can download a free version from www.microsoft.com/express.
There are 4 different HMI application types you can develop. All support communications over the Internet. Windows and WPF applications are easier to develop and deploy than web applications, however web applications have the added benefit of working on smartphones.
If you are new to Visual Studio we recommend to use the Quick Start Templates for Visual Studio 2010 for WinForm and WPF applications.
