Programmatically Access Real-Time Data

To access data from the OPC Systems.NET real-time data service you can use the OPC Controls Data component in the OPCControls.dll.  This dll is included in the product feature OPC Windows HMI.NET.  The same methods are also included OPCWPFDataComponent in the product feature OPC WPF HMI.NET and OPC Mobile.NET also includes its own data component.  All of the methods are the same in syntax and function.

The OPC Controls data component can be used in WinForm, Web, WPF, and Windows Service applications.

Refer to the following video on how to programmatically access data from the OPC Systems.NET real-time data service and directly from OPC Servers using DirectOPC.

The OPC Systems.NET real-time data service can receive data from OPC Servers, OPC Clients, databases, Microsoft Excel, and .NET applications using this very data component.

View the Quick Start section on Programmatic Data Access for step by step instructions on the basics of the data component.

The very basic methods of the data component are also described in the OPC Windows HMI.NET section in the OPC Controls Data topic.

Refer to the Forms FormReadValues and FormWriteValues in the WinForm Example Source Code installed with OPC Systems.NET for a documented working example of the data component.
